Michael Soriano’s building design and construction experience spans
more than 30 years. An active practicing Architect, he is a specialist in
pre‐design analysis including building programming, facilities
requirements and master planning. He has a well established experience
record with several specific building types and is equally adept with
projects ranging from under 1,000 square feet to multi‐story facilities in
excess of 100,000 square feet.
Mr. Soriano co‐founded Cornerstone Architects in 1987 and serves as
the firm’s Managing Partner. Mr. Soriano provides programming and
design direction for continuing projects with major clients such as
National Starch & Chemical / Akzo Nobel and Coldwell Banker. A key
element to the success of the firm is Mr. Soriano’s attention to details
and project management on behalf of his clients, from design through
the construction process.
Prior positions include Director of Design at MSI, Somerville, NJ and
Project Architect for Jordan and Pease Architects in Raritan, NJ. During
this time, Mr. Soriano participated in the planning and design of several
large educational and commercial design projects.
Mr. Soriano is a licensed Architect in the state of New Jersey. He is an
active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) at national,
state and local levels. He chaired the Government Affairs Committee of
AIA New Jersey for seven years and also serves as a Gubernatorial
appointed, professional member, of the New Jersey State Board of
Architects. Currently serving as its President. Mike has also been active
as a Board of Directors member of the Fanwood ‐ Scotch Plains YMCA.
Mr. Soriano is also very proud to have been awarded the “YMCA
Volunteer of the Year” in 2003 by the YMCA NJ State Alliance, was
elected as a delegate to the YMCA of the USA’s National Assembly from
New Jersey in 2001 and again in 2003. Elected in July of 2005 to a 3 year
term, Mike served as a member of the National Board of Directors for
the YMCA of the USA in Chicago, Il. Mike is equally proud to serve the
National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Greater Northern NJ. The MS
Society honored Mike as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2005 and again in
2007.
